I'm not the one making that decision, but I suspect the probability is
low, yes, unless there's a stronger case than I've heard so far.

To be honest, if libtool is working now, I wouldn't worry about it.
You need to worry about it only if you run up against hosts where
libtool doesn't work.

Yes, I think awk has a chance; maybe join too.  split is least likely.
But this is just my kneejerk reaction.
