Well, no. If fact, selecting text with the mouse (or the ctrl-arrow keys) on
these
platforms is usually *not* called selecting, but merely HIGHLIGHTING. If you
actually want to select the text you've highlighted, you have to either CUT it
(via
Ctrl-X, Alt-X, Apple-X, etc.) or COPY it (via Ctrl-C, Alt-C, Apple-C, etc.) to
the
clipboard. Only after you do this, will you be able to PASTE it (Ctrl-V, Alt-V,
Apple-V...) somewhere else. (Note that the cut/copy/paste key bindings are
already
provided by cua-mode.el.)
Now certainly, if you come from an X11 world, this will seem weird, which is why
the changes I posted yesterday leave this metaphor turned off by default; I do
not
break (at least I hope not) any existing semantics.
