Viper doesn't properly restore font-lock faces |

This bug report will be sent to the Free Software Foundation,
not to your local site managers!!
Please write in English, because the Emacs maintainers do not have
translators to read other languages for them.
In GNU Emacs 20.7.2 (i386-debian-linux-gnu, X toolkit)
of Tue Jul 25 2000 on raven
configured using `configure i386-debian-linux-gnu --prefix=/usr
--sharedstatedir=/var/lib --libexecdir=/usr/lib --localstatedir=/var/lib
--infodir=/usr/share/info --with-pop=yes --with-x=yes --with-x-toolkit=yes'
Please describe exactly what actions triggered the bug
and the precise symptoms of the bug:
In `viper-mode', if I perform a search or a change command, Viper
highlights the relevant text in `viper-search-face' or
`viper-replace-overlay-face'. When Viper removes the highlighting,
however, it changes the text color to black instead of restoring the
correct face for the syntax. `M-g M-g' does not correct the problem.
For instance, if I am searching through a Java file with the Viper
search command bound to `/' and a match is found inside of a comment,
when I continue to the next match by pressing `n', the
previously-matched text becomes black, the color of my default face,
instead of red, the color of my comment face.
