I had a look at the specification:

it states how the localized values for keys are handled:

This applies only to keys that are of type localestring, listed here:

namely: Name, GenericName, Comment, Icon, Keywords keys are of type

So I guess what you'd need is a gettext module that would list genuine
values of these keys, allowing translator to append [LOCALE] to key names
in concern and enter the value corresponding to that locale.

Unfortunately I'm not a perl coder...


Sorry disregard this response, I had po4a in mind and was thinking about
a po4a module, of course not a gettext module...
