Dear Franc, Please, don't advertise proprietary software on GNU lists. About the "Slow Issue" on some Western Digital drives:1) It is not the responsibility of ddrescue to provide a "helper application" in order to hack the firmware of Western Digital drives.
2) Any device that does not deliver data when requested, for any reason other than physical or electrical damage, has a (firmware) bug.
3) It is the responsibility of Western Digital to provide users with a simple method to fix firmware bugs. Else Western Digital is creating a scam market to force users buy some proprietary software.
4) You are free to write such "helper application". I could even link to it from the ddrescue homepage as I already do with ddrescueview and ddrutility.
Regards, Antonio.
