There is a lot of documentation here https://developer.oculusvr.com/
Just sign up for a free account, the SDK is free and has plugins for other game dev software (which i dont think is really applicable here)
Yes, it is a warping filter of sorts, at least that would certainly work. Many rift games and applications get the exact numbers from a config program meant to personalise the rift for the user depending on a few things including the eye cups used which are different for people with varying level of short sightedness and another number for eye protrusion.

Hi!
[I forward this mail to the mailing list since we need help with this.]
It seems there is interest in adding support for the Oculus Rift, and Jennifer has one of these and is willing to help.
Does someone have access to developer information for the Oculus Rift? My guess is that some form of warping filter is required. Is this documented / open, is there only some restricted SDK? Is there someone here who can work on this?
Regards, Martin

the big problem is that right now, there is no rift 3D video player for mac, Windows users have VRtheatre which is amazing but perhaps a bit over complicated.

i was just wondering if bino was still an ongoing project, because a lot of mac users would love an oculus rift filter
It is still ongoing and active, and adding Oculus Rift support is possible as long as there is someone who has that hardware and is willing to work on this.
Please ask on our mailing list, maybe there is someone already working on this.
