This file is in place and loos OK

I have set this variable

Compilation fails nevetheless....

13 making noweb
tar: /home/axiomgnu/new/zips/noweb-2.10a.tgz: Cannot open: No such file or
directory
tar: Error is not recoverable: exiting now
tar: Child returned status 2
tar: Error exit delayed from previous errors
/bin/sh: cd: /home/axiomgnu/new/obj/noweb/src: No such file or directory
/bin/sh: ./awkname: No such file or directory
/bin/sh: cd: /home/axiomgnu/new/obj/noweb/src/c: No such file or directory
cp: cannot stat `/home/axiomgnu/new/zips/noweb.modules.c.patch': No such
file or directory

I dound in the makefile under taget 13 that it is looked for ${ZIPS}, at
the beginning of the makefile ${ZIPS} is set to ZIPS=${SPD}/zips, but
${SPD} is set to /home/axiom/new, which fails on my machine....

After setting this to ~/axiom/new/new, it unpacks the noweb...tgz but the
compilation fails with another error, which might also be a path
problem....

13 making noweb
/bin/sh: cd:
/Net/clifford/CliDiskInt/Users/fauser/axiom/new/new/obj/noweb: No such
file or directory
/bin/sh: cd:
/Net/clifford/CliDiskInt/Users/fauser/axiom/new/new/obj/noweb/src: No such
file or directory
/bin/sh: ./awkname: No such file or directory
/bin/sh: cd:
/Net/clifford/CliDiskInt/Users/fauser/axiom/new/new/obj/noweb/src/c: No
such file or directory

Perhaps you should have used the -p or --strip option?

regretful to say NO

cheers
BF.

PS: Please note that I am an "compiling ingnorant", (I need
./configure, make, make install to run smoothly otherwise I am lost)
but that might be 99% of the potential users too.
