[avr-gcc-list] jtagice-mkII comm protocol

Hi,

Sorry for cross-posting but I want to hit everyone who might be
interested.

I was contacted by an Atmel employee today about the jtagice-mkII comm
protocol. He provided me with a preliminary document describing the
protocol under the condition that I do not redistribute it. He did say
that I could put others with interest in contact with him.

So, if you'd like a copy of the document and you are serious about
contributing some code and you have a jtagice-mkII, then email me off
list and I will give the email address of the guy at Atmel. He seemed to
imply that there was a limit to the number of people that he could
give the document. I don't know what that limit would be though.

I did ask him explicitly if there was any restrictions on putting any
code that we write based on the document into a public repository (i.e.
cvs) and he said there were no restrictions.

He also included some source code which I am assuming is from the
AvrStudio tool for talking with the jtagic-mkII. I am not planning on
looking at that code so that anything I write is not tainted. I would
suggest that others do the same since Atmel's license on files has not
been explicit in the past as to what the redistribution policy is. Since
avarice is GPL, we need to remain GPL compliant.
