Yes.

Hm, indeed.  With cached preample, I got the same \MYLATEXline errors as
you do, but I got the previews anyway.

You mean, turning of the preamble cache?  That's only for the current
session.

I get that error, too, but it doesn't hinder preview-latex to generate
previews for me.

Hm, so it actually found the preview snippets.

Not sure where's the difference.  You might want to try the
auctex-11.87.2 package that you can install with M-x
package-list-packages instead of the debian provided one.
