I use auctex 11.85 with emacs23 in gentoo with texlive2008. my texlive 2008 is from DVD iso , not installing with gentoo's portage.
this problem is about find error C-c ` .
If I write a wrong package name and lack $ , C-c ` works. up emacs window is my error latex line and below is error information.
\[ p\cdot \frac{(p-1)!}{k!(p-k)! \] the cold lacks } of \frac.
but above code , C-c ` can not find it . when I push C-c` , the up emacs window is web2c, below is "TeX help", the minibuffer says:Search failed: "^l\\." .
when I firstly use auctex with texlive2008 , C-c ` always give web2c , than I revice the file /etc/texmf/web2c/texmf.cnf : file_line_error_style = t. So C-c ` can find a lot of errors .
Now C-c ` can not do with \[ p\cdot \frac{(p-1)!}{k!(p-k)! \] .
