I'm really surprised by all those positive reactions :). That alone motivates 
me to do some more work!

As for all your suggestions: I guess we can have different kind of 'messages': 
ordinary voices, magical stuff (telepathy) and others. For example, some 
especially evil characters could radiate this evilness, so that especially 
sensible characters can spot their presence from further away.

We might also call it ether instead of environment, since it will probably 
transport more than just noises.

We also have discussed these things somewhat.


Concerning the event system (which is also a point on the list above), I have 
gotten things into a state where everything compiles again. So I'll make a 
first commit once I have net access (on friday).

It probably takes another week or two before everything is working as it 
should. Then I can move on to the next point on my list :-).
