[XForms] Changes to fdesign?

Hi,

   Justin Turnage's report that clicking on "Accept" in
fdesign when editing the object specific attributes didn't
store the settings last edited (unless "stored" via pressing
<Enter> or <Tab>) let me to take a closer look at the way
object attributes are edited. I found several additional
errors which I'm in the process of correcting.

But I also found that I don't really understand what
the "Accept", "Cancel", "Apply", "Restore" and "Auto-
Apply" buttons are really sypposed to do under which
circumstances - and I have a feeling that neither the
original author(s) did;-) Different rules seem to
apply when you're editiing the "generic" and the
"object specific" attributes. And I've no good idea
what the rules actually are.

I thus would propose to change th euser interface a
bit in this respect. I'd like to make the behaviour
indepedent of the type if attributes one is editing.
E.g. "Accept" accepts all changes (i.e. both the gene-
ric as well as the object specific ones) made since
starting to edit attributes of the obkject (and closes
the form), "Cancel" un- does all changes since one
started editing (and closes the form), "Restore" also
undoes all changes (but does not close the form). I
have never used the "AutoApply" functionality (i.e.
that check button is always on) and I don't know what
it is actually useful for to be able to switch it off
(and, to make matters worse, the "Apply" button shown
in this situation didn't actually do anything useful
when editing object specific attributes). so I con=
sider removing it completely.

Since I don't use fdesign very often I might be a bit
"radical" in removing functionality I don't understand.
Thus I would like to ask those of you that have stron-
ger feelings about this to stop me doing something
stupid. Bonus points will go to those that can explain
what actually is supposed to happen when these buttons
are used in different circumstances!
