+<p>Il centro è situato nel Sudharshan Layout vicino alla Bannerghatta Road a
+Bangalore, nello <a
+href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Karnataka#Education";>stato di
+Karnataka</a>, India. </p>
+                       
+<h3>Profilo</h3>
+
+<p>Il <a href="http://slumdweller.wikispaces.com/Community+Computing+Center";>
+centro comunitario di informatica di Ambedkar</a> non è un'istituzione
+scolastica privata o pubblica; si tratta di un centro educativo di
+informatica guidato da giovani che fanno parte del gruppo locale chiamato
+Ambedkar Sanga che opera nel quartiere povero della zona.</p>
+
+<p>Il centro è stato fondato nel 2007 allo scopo di avvicinare all'informatica
+bambini e ragazzi emarginati che hanno poche altre opportunità di entrare in
+contatto con la tecnologia. </p>
+
+<p>Il gruppo consiste di circa 15 bambini e giovani di ambo i sessi dai 13 ai
+23 anni. Essi frequentano i corsi tre volte alla settimana, in lezioni da
+due ore per volta.</p> 
+                       
+<h3>Motivazioni</h3>
+
+<p>L'area nella quale è collocato questo centro è priva persino delle
+infrastrutture fondamentali. I bambini di questa zona, a nostro parere,
+devono imparare ad avere sete di libertà oltre che ad usare il computer: il
+software libero è un modo per parlare di libertà.</p>
+
+<h3>Il metodo</h3>
+

+<p>Non c'è stato nessun processo di migrazione. Siamo dei sostenitori del
+software libero dunque abbiamo iniziato con l'installare software libero in
+tutti i computer in uso; comunque, non abbiamo dovuto affrontare nessuna
+particolare difficoltà nell'impostare il sistema. La nostra principale
+difficoltà è la mancanza di hardware. Usiamo solo computer portatili, e ce
+ne servono sempre. Ci basiamo sulle donazioni per il nostro lavoro. </p>
+                       
+<h3>Impegno per il software libero</h3>
+
+<p>Abbiamo cinque postazioni di lavoro, tutte costituite da computer portatili
+che funzionano con sistemi operativi totalmente liberi.</p>
+                       
+<p>Tutti i programmi che utilizziamo sono liberi. Per esempio, usiamo <a
+href="http://www.libreoffice.org/";>LibreOffice</a> per i fogli di lavoro e
+per la scrittura di documenti generici, e <a
+href="http://directory.fsf.org/wiki/GIMP";>GIMP</a> per la grafica. </p>

+<h3>Risultati</h3>
+
+<p>Navigare nel web usando software libero aiuta questi giovani ragazzi e
+ragazze ad avere accesso al mondo esterno in sicurezza e con fiducia. I
+programmi liberi di grafica come GIMP permettono loro di esprimere la loro
+creatività liberamente e facilmente. </p>
+                       
+<p><a href="/education/edu-software-gimp.html#Mani">Uno dei bambini
+emarginati</a> che ha frequentato i corsi al centro ha acquisito una grande
+abilità nell'usare GIMP. I suoi lavori sono stati presentati e venduti in
+una conferenza locale sul software libero. La foto a destra lo mostra
+consegnare a Richard Stallman una copia di un saggio intitolato "Il futuro è
+nostro", che è stato prodotto al centro. Sono disponibili anche <a

+<p>Alcuni dei bambini che frequentano i nostri corsi hanno anche seguito dei
+corsi di computer a scuola. Essi raccontano che le abilità che hanno
+imparato al centro sono per loro di inestimabile aiuto per seguire e
+superare questi corsi con successo. </p>

+<p>The following information was submitted to us by the group of volunteers 
working at the Center.</p>
+

+<h3>Location</h3>
+
+<p>The Center is located in the Sudharshan Layout off Bannerghatta Road
+in Bangalore, <a href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Karnataka#Education";>
+State of Karnataka</a>, India.</p>
+                       
+<h3>About</h3>
+
+<p>The <a href="http://slumdweller.wikispaces.com/Community+Computing+Center";>
+Ambedkar Community Computing Center</a> is not a private or public 
+educational institution, it is a computing education center run by 
+youths from a local group called Ambedkar Sanga that works in the slums 
+of the area.</p>
+
+<p>The Center was founded in 2007 in an effort to bring the world of 
+computers close to underprivileged children and youths who otherwise 
+would have little opportunity to get in contact with this technology.</p>
+
+<p>The group consists of around 15 children and young boys and girls 
+from 13 to 23 years old. They attend classes 3 times a week for 2 hours 
+each session.</p> 
+                       
+<h3>Motivation</h3>
+
+<p>The area in which this Center is located lacks even the most basic 
+living conditions. We feel that the kids from this place should get a 
+good thirst for Freedom while learning computing too, and Free Software 
+serves this purpose. Free Software is a way to talk about Freedom.</p>
+
+<h3>How We Did It</h3>
+

+<p>No migration process was involved. We are Free Software advocates so 
+we started directly by installing Free Software in all computers in use; 
+therefore, we haven't  faced any particular difficulties in setting up 
+the systems. Our main difficulty regards the lack of hardware. We use 
+only laptops, and we need as many as we can get. We rely on donations 
+for our work.</p>
+                       
+<h3>Commitment to Free Software</h3>
+
+<p>We have five work stations, all of which are laptops and all of them 
+run fully free operating systems.</p>
+                       
+<p>All of the programs we use are Free Libre software. For example, we 
+use <a href="http://www.libreoffice.org/";>LibreOffice</a> for 
+spreadsheets and for general document writing, and 
+<a href="http://directory.fsf.org/wiki/GIMP";>GIMP</a> for graphics.</p>
+                       
+<h3>Results</h3>
+
+<p>Browsing the web using Free Software helps these young boys and girls 
+to have access to the external world in safety and confidence. Free 
+Libre graphic programs such as GIMP allow them to express their 
+creativity freely and easily.</p>
+                       
+<p><a href="/education/edu-software-gimp.html#Mani">One of the 
+underprivileged kids</a> who attends classes at the Center has achieved 
+a high level of skill in the use of GIMP. His works have been presented 
+and sold at a local Free Software conference. The picture on the right 
+shows him handing in to Richard Stallman a copy of an essay titled 
+&ldquo;The Future is Ours&rdquo;, which was produced at the Center. More 
+<a href="http://www.fsmk.org/node/14#";>pictures of Richard Stallman's 
+visit to the Center</a>.</p>
+                         
+<p>Some of the kids who attend our classes also take computing courses 
+at school. They report that the skills they learn at the Center are of 
+invaluable help for them to follow and pass those courses 
+successfully.</p> 
+

+volunteers is expanding in these deprived areas of the city, with
