Here is the history I extracted from looking over the GNU User's
guide.

Tom Hart had no objections transfering the copyright to the FSF.  I
haven't been able to contact Matthew Grant or James Morrison.  Thomas
Bushnell and Gordon Matzigkeit (now Michael FIG) had not made any
contributions (the list of authors is incorrect, only the header was
extracted from the Hurd reference manual).

The summary is as follows (you refers to Tom Hart):

2002-05-24 -- Guide started, the copy from CVS is quite small, and is
              in its entierty based on the Hurd reference manual, with
              a additional chapter or two.  And was started by Matthew
              Grant.

--- During this time frame, you, James Morrison, and Matt worked on
--- its.  I cannot see any other contributors.

2003-11-09 -- Last changed.
