I have a VILE_LIBDIR_PATH which points to /proj/chris/share/vile which
has the perl bits of vile in it. I have tried adding other paths
(separated by :) but it doesn't help.

It's a real mess this system set up as it seems that I can only build
vile/xvile on our Solaris 2.6 development system, the executable used
to work on our Solaris 2.8 systems but now I'm getting this perl error
and the one thing I *really* need on the 2.8 systems is vileget, which
need perl.
