You can modify file /usr/X11R6/lib/X11/app-defaults/Xterm.
There is something like:

*VT100*color0: black
*VT100*color1: red3
*VT100*color2: green3
*VT100*color3: yellow3
*VT100*color4: blue3
*VT100*color5: magenta3
*VT100*color6: cyan3
.....cut....

Colors like blue3 are defined in /usr/X11R6/lib/X11/rgb.txt

What is the problem? You use UDP for communication tlf->cwdaemon, why you
cannot communicate tlf<->tlf?
You can look at tucnak.nagano.cz, file net.c. Tucnak uses TCP, but it
doesn't matter, it works. Idea: every Tucnak process binds one TCP port
55555, 55556, 55557 ... and sends UDP broadcasts about it to known UDP
port to all network interfaces. Real communication is on this ports.

BTW why do you use UDP for QSOs? IMHO UDP is optimal for tlf->cwdaemon,
but for QSOs is better TCP.
