The swftools Wiki does contain some extra information.
Furthermore, there's the file format specification at
http://www.swftools.org/swfc-fileformat.txt
, which is a kind of mixture of currently working things and ideas
for the future (which are marked as such, though).
And I do agree that the manual needs an overhaul. It's one of
many things on my todo list. Especially the description of
buttons (and actionscript) needs some work.
