At ftp://ftp.santafe.edu/pub/swarm/binaries/w32/latest/Swarm-2.2-pretest-7.tar.gz is a new binary distribution for Windows. It should be mounted as /Swarm-2.2 (then use "export SWARMHOME=/Swarm-2.2") using the latest cygwin packages (http://www.cygwin.com). This distribution is built using gcc 3.3 which is also included. It is built using the current CVS code from http://savannah.nongnu.org/projects/swarm. Java support isn't working right, but perhaps that will be worked out soon. I believe most of the nastiness is out of the way.

To built from CVS, get automake-1.6, autoconf-2.52, and libtool 1.5 from ftp://ftp.gnu.org, then run the command below at the top of the Swarm CVS checkout. Only libtool 1.5 is available as a Cygwin package; it is called "libtool-devel" in the Cygwin package list. So, install automake and autoconf in some other place, say /packages, and then use:

  ACLOCAL_FLAGS='-I /usr/autotool/devel/share/aclocal' ./autogen.sh
