Hm. I don't know what's wrong, but I can ask the right questions so the
experts know.

What kind of Unix is this? And which swarm version? Which version of
kaffe did you install, and does it work to run other java programs?

Do objective-c swarm programs run? 

Supposing your kaffe is good, I wonder if the problem is in the
configure script for swarm itself is correct. Do you have the
--with-jdkdir option pointing at the kaffe location?
