Thank you for your message and offer of help. 

Since you are obviously more knowledgeable than me about programming and
computers I am not so sure if the first part of the course will be of
much use to you, but you are of course welcome to join us at any point.
The attendees will mostly be graduate students and faculty members in
Political Science who are interested in agent based modeling, so you
might find some kindred spirits in this group.

I'd be happy to share with you my experience with Swarm and hints about
how to get started.
