Hi-
In the past, MachTen PPC for the PowerMac wasn't a real Unix.  It lacked
memory protection, multitasking, and various other features.  (They had
assumed Apple would be done with the new OS by then). I haven't used it in
a long time, though.  I haven't heard anything about how compatible the new
MachTen Obj C port is.  You might post a query to <news:comp.unix.machten>
or the MachTen email list.  The advantage of using MachTen is that you can
run Mac apps concurrently with Unix (it runs under the MacOS).  MkLinux is
much cheaper and works fine.
