Espeak-generic doesn't work anymore

Now I've created a workaround: I set the absolute path of espeak.wav,
which made it speak.
So I guess my OS does no longer set and find a system wide temp dir. It
used to do so, what went wrong?
I use GRML with the latest upgrades via safe-upgrade.
