Hi again,
my two problems with rs232 and the simulation running before the gdb started
up were related to a mistake i made in the tcl script.
I didn't recognize that the clock is being applied later in the checkdebug.tcl
examples. So i applied the clock immediately _and_ after the debugger came
up. This caused the simulation to start way before the gdb was up and after
the second clock was applied the rs232 output was garbled. Now everything
works.
There is still a tiny delay between the simulation and the debugger starting
up, but it's way shorter now and doesn't really cause a problem anymore.
Sorry for the confusion,
Till
