Full Name:

EIRCC - Emacs IRC Client
System Group Name:
-----------------
eircc
Type:
-----
non-GNU software & documentation
License:

GNU General Public License V2 or later
Description:
------------
EIRCC is an IRC[1] client in Emacs Lisp. It aims at being less baroque
and convulted than ERC[2], but more featureful than rcirc[3] (those
are the other major IRC clients for Emacs at the moment). It includes
Lui, the linewise user-interface, a well-abstracted user interface for
Emacs programs which can be used by other programs as well to get an
IRC client-like look&feel.

@propaganda
As an IRC client, EIRCC features auto-query windows,
nigh-highlighting, an extensible ignore, automatic splitting of lines
to be sent, flood protection, per-server (not per-channel) separate
encoding and decoding coding systems, auto-join, and NickServ-support.
Netsplit handling is planned for the first release. The user interface
features tab completion, flyspell support, activity tracking with
faces, keyword highlighting, toggleable ignore, configurable filling,
configurable time stamps, and automatic buffer truncation. EIRCC does
not yet support buttonized URLs or other text, auto-away, and DCC. The
user interface lacks a hook to check your input before sending, and
the tracking currently doesn't interact too well with multiple frames.
It's also not yet possible to exlucde specific buffers from being
tracked. Logging and Emacspeak is also missing.

Other Software Required:
------------------------
GNU Emacs. Preferably CVS, but tested with Emacs 21 as well.
