Stéphane GAUTIER <address@hidden> described the package as follows:
License: gpl
Other License:
Package: sauvetar
System name: sauvetar
Type: non-GNU

Description:
The goal of this project is to provide an easy to use frontend for Partimage
software (http://www.partimage.org/).

Using Partimage isn't realy easy for people how haven't any informatical
knowledge. A lot of questions need to know the internal stucture of Linux
(/dev/hda, ...).

To use Sauvetar :

First, you must boot from a bootable device (cdrom, hard disk, lan, floppy (not
alone), ...). Then, you acced to a graphical interface with 3 or 4 choices :

        - local save/restore

        - network save/restore

        - multicast deployement

        - hard disk install (if you are on cdrom)

- local fonction :

        - When you want to make an image of your partition, the software only
asks

easy questions, and proposes you default answers. If needed, it calculates

the size of partition to create, calls Parted to create the storage

partition. After that, it runs partimage to create the image of the selected

partition.

        - When you want to restore, if only one partion image is present on
the

storage partition, you simply answer to a question like "do you want to

restore the 'name' partition?", and the software will restore and reboot. If

you have more than one partion, the software will propose you to choose the

partition to restore, highligthing the default one.

- network :

        - The software propose you to save you partion image into a smb share
through

the network. It asks you the name of the server, the share, the username, the

password. After that, it asks for a name and description of your computer, it

saves the partition image into the share and writes data in a database.

        - To restore, the software looks for the mac-address. If it finds it in
it's

database, it directly proposes to restore the partition. The user can select

any other one if he wants. If the software doesn't find the mac-address, it

proposes to the user to choose the image he wants to restore, and warns him

about the risk such an action.

- multicast :

        - when you have prepare a clean bright and new image, you can deploy
it

througth the network to a bunch of computers by using multicast.
