Daniel Martins Barbosa Fortes Ma <address@hidden> described the package as
follows:
License: gpl
Other License:
Package: gnuAdventure
The gnuAdventure, is aproject for an text adventure( aka Interactive fiction )
engine, unsing the GNU Guile extension language, for maximum flexibility, and
so the user won\'t need to do any \'hard code\' prgramming. One of the
inovations in the gnuAdventure project, is the multiplayer mode, where many
players will be able to play together trouygh a gnuAdventure server.
The gnuAdventure project is divided into three parts:
gnuAdventure core engine: conatins all functions and classes, called by the
scripts, and manages comunication with gnuAdventure server.
gnuAdvernture GUILE scripts: Support scipts for the final user script.
gnuAdventure Server: the server used to comunicate all the gnuAdventure clients.
gnuAdventure will be portable to several operating systems( GNU/Linux,
GNU/Hurd, BeOS,MS-DOS,MS-Windows), and initialy, a text mode aplication, but
latter it may support images, sounds, music, etc.
User input is made trough the keyboard, where the user types an action for the
character, (eg, Look at the Book), and program must parse the sentence (looking
up words in a grammar database) , and perform the action defined in the script.
For example if the user types in \'Look at the Room\' the program must print a
description of the room, with all the visible objects and characters.
gnuAdventure will follow the style of the classic infocom/activision games (eg,
the Zork series).
