In theory, normal python code should never cause python itself to
crash.  So there is probably a "Python on OpenBSD" or (more likely?) a
"my C code on OpenBSD" issue.

    You may want to go to the rdiff-backup-data directory and delete
or rename the resume information (last-file*data, checkpoint-data*)
as well as the log (*log) files.  Aside from these files, I don't
really see how the backing store can get corrupted, as rdiff-backup
doesn't access any old files from it.  And if everything goes right,
rdiff-backup doesn't read anything at all from any file in the
rdiff-backup-data directory, so it should be pretty hard to corrupt
the destination in a way that would prevent future backups.
