Yep...I misunderstood you the first time, sorry. I tried "escape F19"
and it seemed to work. Didn't see F19 in the output of "xmodmap -
pke", but it seems work nevertheless. Using F19 seems to achieve
my goal of having the escape key be a key that doesn't exist on the
keyboard. Thanks for the help!
