All,

To be brief, I'm pinging people, weighing the option of putting
together a set of companies who are willing to contribute funds
so that I can continue working on plex86. Rather than have one
company foot the bill (which seems unlikely and perhaps not very
fair since it's Open Source), the idea is to get a small set (say
3 or 4) companies that would each contribute a lesser amount.

As an Open Source effort funded by multiple parties, I'd essentially
continue work on plex86 as a typical project - I couldn't promise
any milestones or feature sets. This is due to the multiple
contributor format and the development state of plex86.
Though, feedback from funding parties would certainly be taken
into consideration. As I want to avoid the "let someone else pay"
attitude held by many companies who benefit from certain
Open Source projects, it's only fair that my attention span
would be a lot longer for those who do contribute. ;^)

Let me know if you have interest in such funding. Likely, I'd make
use of one of the already functional sites to handle the framework,
like the following. It has the benefit of being a tax-decuctible
contribution to the paying parties. Other suggestions welcome.

I'm looking to work in 6 month increments. This should let folks be
comfortable regarding progress and decide if they want to continue
funding another segment as a result. I'd like to see if I can get
traction with this idea in a relatively short window I have, before
likely going off in an unrelated direction. My goal is to get a total of
$50k per 6 months. Which would be $12.5k per company if I
can attract 4, or $16.6k for 3 contributors.
