Oops!  Thufir, do you know that your headers also include this:
User-Agent: Pan/0.14.2.91 (As She Crawled Across the Table)

Yes, when I examine the menus in my *old* pan I see the option you
mention.

When you start pan, are you using an absolute path?  How many versions
of pan do you have on your machine?
