the second is done from the menu as well
select "group" then "download headers for all subscribed news groups".


I think a 'syncronise' option would be handy - especially for laptop
users (like me) who are on the move.

I know it seems like a stupid question but I have been using Linux for
some years and UseNet for 10 years - but this has me confused.

Perhaps it may be easier if I used a background script running a news
reader and pipe that in to Pan?  Perhaps I can write a script for that?

There is an option in preferences to download all headers and bodies on start 
up.

If you want to download everything while the program is running, hit B then 
Ctrl+Shift+A
