Search on freshmeat.net for "suck" -- this is an automated news
downloader which supports killfiles, elimination of duplicates, and
more. If you want to grab (news|binaries) via your crontab, I'd
suggest using a tool which is already designed for that purpose. :)
I've used it before, but that was years ago... there may be something
better now, but it was quite good back then!
