Follow-up Comment #1, bug #48838 (project octave):
I think the octcdf package is still maintained in that it will continue to
work, it's just that future development will happen on the netcdf packages
which is Matlab compatible. Indeed, there was a recent release of the octcdf
package.
At least that is my understanding, I'm adding the packaging maintainer to CC
for comments.
