Follow-up Comment #24, bug #35187 (project octave):

This failed for me.

I am running 32 bit Windows Vista, and tested against Octave 3.4.3.

I downloaded makeinfo.7z from the link provided by Tatsuro MATSUOKA. I
unzipped it and copied the makeinfo.exe to
C:OctaveOctave3.4.3_gcc4.5.2Octave3.4.3_gcc4.5.2msysbin. I started Octave and
typed this command: help inv

A dialog pops up saying "makeinfo.exe has stopped working". This indicates an
unhandled exception. When I dismiss the dialog, Octave returns to the prompt,
having displayed no help. Octave continues working.

I replace makeinfo.exe with the original, and type help inv (No need to
restart Octave.) Garbled help is displayed.

I replace makeinfo.exe with a recent snapshot from
http://sourceforge.net/projects/ezwinports/files/. Good help is displayed.

---
system('makeinfo --version') displays 4.13 for both the original and snapshot
version of makeinfo.

It might be worthwhile to ask Eli Zaretskii (address@hidden) to create a
snapshot versioned something like 4.13a.
