Excellent suggestion. It turns out that only one code generation utility 
from the subproject gio is needed and it can be built easily.

Patch attached for glib.mk. This applies to the current development 
repo. Everything builds fine (except openscenegraph, but that is 
unrelated). See details in patch comment and in comment where the 
symbolic link created.

Tony, I don't think there is any reason to spend time on my earlier 
request to try fam.
