There is no known problem with saving itself, afaik.

I think anybody who wants to look into this would need more details.
Is your friend using "Multi-bookmarks"?
What exactly was in the file ~/.lynxrc before the change?
Did you try to change the bookmark file name?
What exactly was in the file ~/.lynxrc after the change?

That is a different question, it seems Maybe you have suggetions how it
should be made clearer.

Do you mean that no changes are saved, or that only some changes are not
saved?
