I will check this, but is that the manual at NXP was saying not to use ALSA
anyway, thank you for help.

BTW: this BSP platform builds the kernel every time and asks for configuration, I'm not sure if this is desirable? If the maintainer for that platform is reading, please consider changing this.

I just tried a build on imx27 and it was okay (DreamLinux-3.5 (Debian Lenny) single core machine). It looks to me like a it may be a parallel make issue (needing -j1 in the make line).
