 Oh. But all is not lost: the GIF are mostly used for docs and include and
src branches which we need don't contain them. So we could still put a
smaller archive on Savannah, couldn't we?

 Right. What I propose is to have a script which refers to that (fixed) URL
but launch it manually only when you do want to update the wx sources.

 We'd like it to and I hope it will. But right now 2.6.2 has been delayed
for second week already -- it was supposed to be released on August 1. In
fact as long as we don't have automatic release management for wx we're
unlikely to make releases more often than every 3-4 months as it's a lot of
work for a single person to make them manually right now. I do want to try
to automate the process but this is one of these other things which seem to
remain forever in the "TODO" queue...
