Werner, could you post a list of the steps it takes to get GUB running? Then documentation couldĀ  be updated.

Unless the GUIX-based build system proposed by Jan Nieuwenhuizen materializes within a year, GUB will need some work to add 64-bit builds for macOS. (No 32-bit apps for next macOS version, says Apple.) Adding 64-bit minGW for Windows to help resolve the reported memory-related crashes on large projects is another consideration.

All this would need more people working on GUB. Reliable documentation for beginning that work would encourage people to help with it.

Perhaps GUB should be replaced as the build system. But until there's another way to generate all the required builds without making maintainers' lives more difficult, GUB is what we have to work with.
