Using libtoolize to copy the versioned libtool macros into your project
tree, and then using ACLOCAL_AMFLAGS = -I m4 to m4_include them into
aclocal.m4.

It is worth mentioning the necessity of using 'aclocal -I m4' for bootstrap if the m4 files are in an 'm4' subdirectory. This bit me and cost me several hours this weekend. Probably if I paid more attention to certain list discussions I would have realized this from the start, but since I didn't, my experience is likely representative of any other user new to this paradigm. Technically, this is an Autoconf issue rather than a libtool issue, but libtool users will encounter it due to the other libtool instructions.
