I meant there is no alternative to that.  The paragraph starting
with "Alternatively" and attempting to document how not to do
that (i.e., construct a big aclocal.m4 out of versioned m4
files) should IMHO be killed.

I'm not sure which wording you are talking about.  The paragraph
I'm suggesting to remove?
