The Manual of Style and
info texinfo 'Not Ending a Sentence'
conflict about this matter.
TeX also puts more space after a sentence, and for the special cases
(abbreviations etc.) it needs commands to disambiguate. The texinfo
commands @:, @. etc. are translated to use the TeX commands. So my
change is really about making the info output look more like the TeX
output.
