I take it that changing the invocation in mkstamp to:

 exec sed -e 's,^M$,,
        s%.*\$''Revision: \(...yadda yadda yadda
   :end' ${1+"$@"}

won't do the trick?

Is this a bug in mingw cat? Make is likely to get quite confused by spurious ^M chars too isn't it?

I assume you mean mingw sed. :-)

I think that mingw's sed is working fine since libtool's bootstrap works and libtool's configure script otherwise seems to work fine with the MS-DOS line terminations. Configure runs if config/mkstamp uses MS-DOS line terminations, but ChangeLog uses Unix line terminations.

I'll do more testing this evening. Windows is just a target environment for me so I try to limit my exposure to it. :-)
