  Thanks for the assist on this, but I am still having problems compiling.
I got the Kerberos distribution from MIT and built it thinking that I'd find
a crypto library in the build but I'm not seeing it.  This is my first time
building CVS, so maybe I need to get a "crypto" library from somewhere else?

  When I build CVS I get partway through the make and get the following
error line:

  library -lcrypto: not found

  Anyone know where I can find this?

You only need it if you want to use GSSAPI (includes Kerberos 5)
authentication, but you may have to disable GSSAPI if configure is
autodetecting a partial install or something.

    ./configure --help

for more.  I think the option you're looking for is '--without-gssapi' or
