Hi George,
thanks for the reply and the information. In the mean time I've simply
exported the data from octave and plotted it in pyxplot, which was basically
made to overcome these problems.
By default it writes to eps format. It is written in python and uses latex
to do the typesetting of the plot.
99% of the plotting command syntax is gnuplot-like.
