Dear octave graphics users,

I have to wait for nearly a minute for a contour plot via gnuplot and fltk
is a bit better, but still. I'm using a x,y grid of 720x1000 data point,
which to me seem reasonable in size.

I'm wondering how other people deal with slow graphics of octave backends.
Software like IDL pops up the same contours in 0.1sec. When I use the plplot
backend, there's no problem either, but this seems to be abandoned since a
long time, and it has some bugs that renders it unusable.

If you have similar problems and have a suggestion, I would be very much
interested!

thanks,

kloof
