What about octave? Did you build from source or install an RPM? In octave, what is the output of: disp(octave_config_info.canonical_host_type)? I'm guessing that it's i686-pc-linux-gnu. If that's the case, one thing you might try is go to /usr/libexec/octave/2.1.71/site/oct and do "mv i686-redhat-linux-gnu i686-pc-linux-gnu". I'm not completely sure, but that might fix the problem. On the other hand, the problem may be that the octave you installed was built using a different compiler version than the one used for octave forge, in which case you will need to remove everything and compile your own tools from scratch.
