Announcing searchable mail archives (BETA!)

I'm happy to announce a searchable mirror of the Octave mailing
lists. A test version is available at
http://www.idsia.ch/~doug/octave-lists/archives/

This was created by mirroring the archives at www.octave.org
and indexing them using MHonArc. They are searched using Glimpse.
This is the same strategy used by the debian folks.

In fact, these pages are generated using the debian package
lists-archives.

*PLEASE* give me feedback. If these pages are useful, I
can give them to the octave site to manage or
I can keep them at IDSIA and maybe use a better url
(e.g. octave.idsia.ch/mailing-lists)

Also, an important note! These lists are *not* being updated
with new messages. I'll do that after getting some feedback.
If no one seems to care, I'm not going to bother setting
up the mirroring software. Also, maybe John / octave.org
has a preference to have this stuff at the octave.org
site. If so, it can easily be moved.

Cheers,
Doug
