Thanks for above help. Still doesn't work for me.
Am trying to figure out how the dynamic linking function works.
When compile these messages are given:
gcc -I/mnt/control/jay/octave-1.1.1/src
-I/mnt/control/jay/octave-1.1.1/liboctave ex_dld.C

/tmp/cca122811.o(.text+0x19e): undefined reference to `cerr'
/tmp/cca122811.o(.text+0x1a3): undefined reference to `ostream::operator<<(char
const *)'
/tmp/cca122811.o(.text+0x1af): undefined reference to
`Array<tree_constant>::length(void) const'
/tmp/cca122811.o(.text+0x1f9): undefined reference to
`Octave_object::operator()(int) const'
...... and many more .........
