Unfortunately, it can't solve the very problem that the preprocessors
are -- preprocessors.  It needs a fundamental redesign to do what
Larry envisions.  The alternative is to use auxiliary files, similar
to LaTeX, but to do that the main macro packages must be extended,
either directly or using external packages.
